Bostock Bakery
Raskl were delighted to collaborate with Bostock Bakery on the redesign and fit out of Bostock’s expanded North Berwick bakery. Building on the identity and atmosphere established at their East Linton site, the project evolved through a close, hands-on process - from initial concept development and site surveys, through to technical drawings and fabrication with Francey shopfitters. Francey delivered the fit out from our drawing pack, bringing precision and care to every detail.
The brief was to transform two adjoining units into one seamless space, doubling the bakery’s footprint while preserving the warmth and authenticity that defines Bostock. We began by looking at the existing shop’s flow and character, identifying what could be retained and reinterpreted. Original features and joinery pieces from the old, smaller site were re-used and re-imagined, embedding continuity and memory within the new design.
The result is a space that harmonises architectural heritage with contemporary comfort. Exposed stone walls frame a calm palette of natural oak, terrazzo, and Bauwerk plaster, creating a serene backdrop for the space. Bespoke curved banquette seating, upholstered in soft green and mustard leather, offers intimate gathering spaces while maximising floor plan efficiency. Custom fluted oak tables with terrazzo tops add tactile depth, while woven rattan pendants cast a warm light throughout. Materials and finishes were carefully considered, from tiled inlay details to smoked and bronzed mirrors, to create an interior that feels timeless and distinctly Bostock.
At the heart of the space sits the curved service counter. Clad in sage green vertical tiles with a brass kick plate, and topped in Hi-Macs terrazzo, the counter balances precision with playfulness, and glass display cabinets showcase Bostock’s artisanal bakes. This juxtaposition of rustic stonework and detailed joinery tells the story of tradition meeting contemporary craft.
A new entrance and reconfigured window layout flood the bakery with natural light, framing a custom mural and tapestry by a local artist that echo the earthy tones of the interior. Lighting is layered with globe pendants and industrial lines highlighting the interior and Bostock’s signature pastries.
We’re proud to have brought this project to life with intention, local artistry, and collaboration - preserving the heart of Bostock while shaping a confident new chapter on North Berwick’s High Street.
