Kilpi
Raskl was commissioned to fabricate Kilpi, a sculptural installation designed by ToyStudio and inspired by traditional Nordic Sami huts. The structure explores the relationship between digital design and natural materials, with a focus on transparency in both form and process. All structural connections, joints, and fabrication techniques were intentionally left visible, offering a clear insight into how the piece was constructed.
Canary Wharf, 2021
Initially commissioned for Canary Wharf’s Summer Lights, the installation was fabricated using CNC-cut timber panels, perforated with patterns based on celestial maps above the site. These perforations created dynamic light and shadow effects throughout the day, adding a responsive visual element to the structure. The urban setting required a high level of precision and efficient installation logistics, which were addressed through modular construction and off-site pre-assembly.
Glastonbury, 2022
The structure was later reinstalled at Glastonbury Festival, where it required technical adjustments to withstand open-air conditions and high visitor interaction. Raskl reinforced key components, adapted fixings for ease of transport and rapid assembly, and ensured the structure’s durability across variable weather conditions. In the festival setting, Kilpi transitioned into a more immersive experience, with internal lighting transforming the structure into a beacon after dark.
Throughout both iterations, Raskl’s role focused on delivering a high-quality fabrication that remained true to the design intent - an honest, exposed structure that engages with its environment through light, geometry, and material clarity.
