Northumberland Street

Images of production phase for Newcastle City Centre Transformation Programme

Here are some production images of our work for Northumberland Street.[

We are immensely proud to be working with Newcastle Council and master planners LDA to deliver the public-facing furniture interventions in and around Northumberland Street.

We joined the council's design team to develop LDA's concepts into a set of deliverable designs which we have been crafted in our workshops in the nearby Ouseburn Valley.

For the Northumberland Street part of the project, we’ve adopted a refined and efficient fabrication approach that builds on our experience from previous streetscape schemes. The new designs utilise laser-cut and folded steel components, which are riveted together to create strong, precise structures with minimal fabrication time - streamlining the rollout of this large-scale urban improvement project.

Each piece is finished with powder-coated bases, alike those on Ridley Place, ensuring visual continuity across the city centre. The seating elements feature detailed iroko timber parts, adding warmth and natural character to the steel forms. Together, these materials create a distinctive and cohesive identity for Northumberland Street.

We manufactured and assembled in-house, working with our network of local suppliers to ensure the project was proudly built in the North East.

The furniture was delivered in Summer 2025 as part of major groundworks and visual improvements to enhance the city centre experience for residents and visitors.

We are currently progressing with the fabrication of the ‘Pilgrim Poles’, which will form the next striking feature down the street.
