Soho Radio
We were thrilled to collaborate with the team at Soho Radio for the fit-out of their flagship broadcast studio. The design brief asked for a distinctive, functional desk and ambient lighting to reinforce the brand identity while supporting the technical demands of broadcast work.
We built a custom broadcast desk with marmoleum panels, incorporating Deco‑inspired integrated lighting for clarity and character. Overhead, a canopy in birch plywood rises above the desk. It frames and encloses the working area, and includes a backlit “sunrise” sign positioned behind the Soho Radio logo. Behind the logo we added a slow‑spinning disc pattern to introduce subtle motion without visual distraction.
All materials were chosen for their durability and distinct visual character. Birch plywood brings warmth and defines the structure of the canopy, marmoleum adds a tactile, hard-wearing surface to the desk, and integrated lighting provides both practical illumination as well as an ambient tone. The joinery, canopy framework, and lighting were all fabricated in-house, with a focus on clean detailing and easy service access.
The final space combines functional broadcast infrastructure with a strong visual presence. The desk is the focal point, the lighting defines the space, and the finishings support both aesthetics and performance.
