Artelea

For Zumtobel

In collaboration with Zumtobel, Raskl was commissioned to reimagine their iconic Artelea floor‑standing luminaire through a more natural, organic lens. Our goal was to preserve the elegant, sculptural presence of the Artelea while softening its formal geometry and infusing it with tactile, biophilic qualities.

Working closely with Zumtobel’s lighting engineers and design team, we studied how natural light behaves, how shadows fall, and how materials age and patinate. We explored finishes, diffusers, surface textures, and forms that echo elements of nature - ripples, grain patterns, gradations of translucency - balancing technological precision with a more living aesthetic.

The result is a prototype that feels less like a manufactured object and more like a luminous presence. At full brightness, it maintains the performance Zumtobel is known for; efficient, controllable, and well engineered.

This collaboration reflects Raskl’s ongoing interest in bridging high-performance design with poetic expression.
